Outcome-Based Ministry asks the question, “What aspects of faith do you want to build into members of your family or congregation?”

Said another way, “What faith skills do you need to acquire in order to be prepared for a life of service and devotion to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ?”

Faith and Ministry Skills

Outcome-Based Faith Skills List

Below is a listing of Faith Skills/Ministry Assets that we are build into those with an interest.

The Outcome-Based Ministry Faith Skills List is divided into four sections. Each section has been created with a specific purpose in mind.

The first section is made up of the one item that is foremost. Every believer everywhere should have a basic understanding of the Christian World View, that is, an understanding of the Good News of Jesus Christ. There are various ways that this can be presented to young people. We teach a simple five-point message of the Good News that is both easy to explain to the youngest of believers, yet still useable for adolescents in high school.

The second section of the Faith Skills List focuses on seven spiritual disciplines we hope to build into the lives of young people. "Early and often" is our cry as we begin to introduce these disciplines to elementary-age school children. We place an emphasis on having the disciplines understood and implemented in youth by the time they complete Middle School. We hope by the time they reach High School we have helped youth to build spiritual disciplines into their lives that will carry them into adulthood.

The third section of the list focuses on Personal Enhancement and People Skills. These skills focus on relationships in three areas; their relationship with themselves (i.e. developing a biblical self-esteem, personal standards, the importance of developing a personal web of faith), their relationships with others (i.e. building relationship skills, spending time with people the way Jesus did), and of course their relationship with the living triune God.

The fourth section of Faith Skills aids individuals in their personal ministries. Although we all possess various gifts and talents, we believe the items in this section are skills that should be obtained by all. All of us should be able to open or close a meeting in prayer, be able to lead a table grace, be able to give devotions before a meeting or facilitate a basic Bible Study. We have developed what we believe are methods that ease young people into acquiring such ministry skills.

An overall goal is to be a training ground for Christian youth. We want to create an atmosphere and culture where young people learn the necessary faith disciplines so that they can walk with God all the days of their lives. We also want for them to discover their individual gifts, talents, and interests and then we wish to provide opportunities for them to put their faith into action in these areas. We strive to create an environment where we as leaders can coach young people through their chosen activities while being surrounded by love and affirmation.

Simply put, we want to become a training ground where youth ministry becomes "Youth Doing Ministry."
